1. Students will read orally from independent reading books for 20 minutes while teacher records total minutes on reading logs.
2. Teacher will present additional Powerpoint slides on connotations and denotations and discuss with students.
3. Class will begin Unit 3: Historical Fiction - Johnny Tremain. Teacher will present some vocabulary words for the unit: genre, historical fiction. Students will record word and definition in their literary terms glossary which was started in the middle of their yellow spiral notebooks..
4. Teacher will begin reading orally from Johnny Tremain Ch. 1 pp. 1-27 while students follow along. Students will answer questions in packet as sections/chapters are read.
