1. Students will read 15 minutes silently from their independent reading books while teacher checks their reading minutes and records.
2. Students will view the video "Oklahoma" on the Smartboard. Students will discuss rural features of the video.
3. Pass out article from The Des Moines Register on rural Iowa's population. Allow students to read with partners/threesomes and complete the question sheet sent via Google Classroom.
4. Discuss the answers to questions when all students have handed in their question sheets via Google Classroom.
5. Teacher will present two unit vocabulary words. Students will record words, definitions, sentences, and pictures for: landscape, Homestead Act.
