1. Students will silently read from independent reading books for 20 minutes while teacher records current total reading minutes on clipboard.
2. Teacher will present the song "Downtown" by Petula Clark on the Smartboard. Class will discuss urban elements of the song.
3. Teacher will introduce urban unit vocabulary words: borough, ghetto, suburb. Students will copy words, definitions, sentences, and pictures in their unit 2 vocabulary packet.
4. Students will get orange books titled Big City Cool and refresh their memory on the story from Friday titled "Block Party: 145th Street Style. Using a plot diagram model as a guide, students will write 100 words or more summarizing the story in a paragraph on Kidblog.org. Due Tuesday.
